Cristiano Melli
A composer and dramaturgist working at the intersection of music theatre and the spoken word. Marked by structural clarity and lyrical tension, his work has been performed across Europe and South America, in collaboration with some of the leading ensembles and festivals of contemporary music. As dramaturgist, he has worked on award-winning productions such as Stockhausen's Aus LICHT in Amsterdam, Lohengrin in Malmö and L'Olimpiade in Stockholm.

In his most recent work, Cristiano Melli brings to light a little-known chapter in the history of European and Brazilian exchange: the unlikely connection between Richard Wagner and Emperor Dom Pedro II, and how that connection shaped one of Wagner's greatest works, Tristan und Isolde.
Staged at HaagsPianoHuis in partnership with the Instituto Guimarães Rosa and the Brazilian Embassy in Berlin, the concert featured pianist Ivan Pavlov performing works by Wagner, Villa-Lobos, and Wagner–Liszt.
